Dual Overcenter Valves

 

Balancing valves are essential components in the hydraulic systems of construction machinery and other mechanical equipment that rely on gravity for lowering. These sophisticated valves integrate a hydraulic circuit designed to balance return oil back pressure with varying loads, ensuring that the load can be precisely halted at any position. They meticulously control the movement equilibrium when the load is being lowered, preventing the load from descending too rapidly, which could lead to damage in structural parts, hydraulic components, and pipelines.

Overcenter valves are engineered to regulate the stopping and movement of an actuator in one direction (single overcenter valves) or in both directions (dual overcenter valves).
Functions:
- Load Lowering Control: The load can only be lowered when there is pilot pressure from the opposing line. This mechanism ensures the cylinder is adequately supplied with oil, preventing cavitation issues;
- Containment of Pressure: Maintains pressure at the set value and offers pressure relief for peaks caused by shocks or overloads;
- Arrest of Flow: Halts the flow (and the load) when the pump is inactive or the directional valve is in a neutral position;
- Free Flow for Load Lifting: Enables load lifting with minimal pressure drops;
These valves are composed of a body that houses:
- Check Valve: Allows flow in a single direction;
- Pilot Piston: Facilitates the gradual opening of the relief valve;
- Relief Valve: Limits the maximum pressure within the actuator, securely holds the load, and manages its descent during the valve's opening by the pilot signal.
