Hydraulic locks usually consist of a main valve and a pilot valve. Under normal operating conditions, the pilot valve remains closed so that the main valve is also closed, thus preventing the flow of oil. When it is time to unlock, the pilot valve opens in response to a control signal (e.g., a solenoid signal), allowing the main valve to open and permitting oil to flow.
