Introduction

A hydraulic lock is a component in a hydraulic system that is mainly used to lock the hydraulic circuit under specific conditions, preventing the flow of fluid to ensure that the actuators (e.g. cylinders) in the system remain in a specific position. A hydraulic lock usually consists of two pilot-operated check valves that can be interlocked to keep the cylinder stationary without an external control signal.

The role of the hydraulic lock is not only limited to maintaining pressure and preventing the hydraulic cylinder piston ram and other moving parts from slipping but also to realize the locking of the hydraulic cylinder, to ensure that the piston will not be moved due to external forces when the reversing valve is in the neutral position.

In addition, the hydraulic lock can also be used for high-flow oil discharge, as a charging valve, or as a combination of directional valves.
