Introduction

A bi-directional counterbalance valve is a control element in a hydraulic system that statically balances a load by preventing it from moving in both directions as it falls.

Bidirectional balancing valve is an important safety component in the hydraulic system, the correct selection and use of bidirectional balancing valve is essential to ensure the safe, stable and reliable operation of the system.

Working Principle

Bi-directional counterbalance valves usually contain two pilot operated check valves that control the flow of oil in two directions.
When the system pressure is higher than the set value, the Pilot Operated Check Valve opens, allowing the oil to flow freely in both directions.
When the system pressure falls below the set value, the Pilot Operated Check Valve closes, preventing the oil from flowing in the opposite direction, thus locking the load.
